St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association (SLPPA)
SLPPA is the only organization in St. Lucia that focuses exclusively on Sexual and Reproductive Health. SLPPA offers comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health services in St. Lucia and has been regarded as a leading authority on Sexual and Reproductive Health in St. Lucia for 49 years. SLPPA works closely with the Ministry of Health to provide Sexual and Reproductive Health information , education and services. Through its clinic it provides general health services in addition to gynecological care, Pap tests, pregnancy tests, pre- and post-natal services, VIA cancer screening, STI/HIV testing, among other services. An outreach program is conducted from its mobile clinic, which offers Sexual and Reproductive Health information and services in areas that are not easily accessible.
SLPPA has developed a reputation as a national leader in shaping youth-friendly services. SLPPA’s program provides health care in a welcoming space and relies on peer educators to lead outreach activities in schools. SLPPA focuses much of its efforts on meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs of a wide range of young people, including in-school youth, sex workers, and LGBTQ youth. It trains volunteers, health personnel, teachers, pharmacists, and community leaders to educate adolescents in and out of school.
